A 43-year-old woman from Pennsylvania says she suddenly began growing large breasts after she had her baby, despite not using hormones. Her chest size grew from a 34B to 34DD, causing back pain, tight neck muscles, shoulder strain, and frequent headaches, and eventually forcing her to use a wheelchair. A specialist diagnosed her with gigantomastia, a rare condition where breasts grow painfully large, sometimes due to hormone shifts or unknown reasons.
The growth happened so fast, she describes it like “watching mushrooms pop up overnight.” Doctors treated her with breast-reduction surgery, which relieved her symptoms and lessened pain. She now encourages others with sudden breast growth to seek medical advice quickly, because even though it’s uncommon, it can seriously impact quality of life. She adds that finding relief and support made all the difference during a challenging medical journey.
