Getting from point A to point C shouldn’t involve circling around point B, but that’s what happened to a man using a driverless Waymo vehicle. Mike Johns was on his way to catch a flight when the Waymo ride circled a parking lot…and then circled it again, and again, and again. He called Waymo customer service, but they couldn’t get the vehicle to stop circling.
The vehicle went around the parking lot a total of eight times before it finally let him out, and by then he had missed his flight. Mike says the company hasn’t reimbursed him for the missed flight, and complained about the fully automated, AI-powered customer service.
