The Woman Who Gave Away Her $150K Lottery Prize Got The Numbers To Play From ChatGPT

A new development in the Powerball winnings giveaway story. Carrie Edwards, the widow and grandmother who won $150-thousand in the Powerball lottery and then gave it away, won after asking ChatGPT to help her choose numbers. Playing online for the first time, Edwards turned to the AI chatbot and asked, “ChatGPT talk to me, talk to me about this $1.7 billion and do you have numbers for me?” Despite initially warning her that lottery wins are “all about luck,” ChatGPT suggested some numbers. Edwards matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball in the September 8th drawing, with her Power Play option tripling her $50,000 prize to $150,000.

When she received the winning notification two days later during a meeting, she initially thought it was a scam. In a remarkable act of generosity, Edwards immediately donated her entire winnings to three charities: the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (in memory of her firefighter husband who died from the disease), Shalom Farms (to fight food insecurity), and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (to help military families). Edwards said she knew she had to “give it all away” because she’d been so blessed.
