New Drug Tricks Muscles Into Thinking They’ve Worked Out

Get ready to bypass bicep exercises…Researchers from Florida and Missouri have been working on an injection that “tricks” muscles into thinking they’ve been working harder than they are thereby boosting metabolisms.

The drug, which has been working in mice, targets proteins located within a person’s DNA that turn on the genes that control how the body uses energy and thus burns calories. What’s more, the rodents also had lower cholesterol and even burned more fat while resting. But don’t get too excited…The experiment is still years away from being tested in humans.
