lake The World Stone Skimming Championships Have Been Rocked By A Cheating Scandal

You can’t even trust rock skippers anymore. The World Stone Skimming Championships in Scotland got hit with a cheating scandal when several competitors were caught using fake stones. The contest happens every year on Easdale Island, which has only 70 people but lots of perfect flat stones from old slate mining. The rules say you can only use natural stones from the island, but some people brought stones that were ground down by machines to make them perfectly round and smooth.

Other competitors complained when they noticed the stones looked suspicious. Kyle Mathews, a local doctor who runs the event, contacted the cheaters and they all admitted what they did wrong. They got kicked out of the competition. Jonathan Jennings from Kentucky won the men’s division and became the first American champion. Lucy Woods won the women’s category for the sixth time.
