Chinese Robots Ran A Half-Marathon Against Humans…And Lost Badly

In a world first, Beijing hosted the world’s first half-marathon featuring humanoid robots competing alongside human runners on Saturday. The race, held in the city’s E-Town district, saw 21 bipedal robots from various Chinese companies, including DroidUP and Noetix Robotics, navigating a 13.1-mile course.

The standout performer was “Tiangong Ultra,” developed by the Beijing Innovation Center of Human Robotics. The robot completed the race in two hours and 40 minutes, showing off advanced algorithms that mimic human running patterns. Before you get too impressed, the fastest human finished the same race in an hour and two minutes, so running away from any robot uprising is still a possibility.
