Runners in the Brooklyn Half Marathon may have thought they were involved in the filming of a new “Runaway Bride” movie. A single woman from New York City ran the race in a full wedding dress, hoping to find a husband. Jackie Thiele got the idea from a friend and thought it would be a fun way to meet someone special. She wore a white dress and a veil, which made her stand out among the runners.
The 35-year-old Thiele wasn’t running away from a wedding like in the movie; she just wanted to catch someone’s eye. She even carried a sign that said, “Looking for a running mate for life!” People cheered her on, and she felt great crossing the finish line after 13.1 miles. Thiele didn’t find a husband during the race, but she’s staying hopeful.
