AI Singer “Eddie Dalton” Has 11 Singles On iTunes Top 100…And The Number Three Album

This will, of course, cause no uproar at all. A completely fake, AI-generated musician called Eddie Dalton somehow landed 11 spots on the iTunes Top 100 singles chart and reached the number three album position, all with fewer than 7,000 actual track sales. The artist was created by Dallas Little, a South Carolina music producer who runs a label called Crunchy Records. Using AI for songwriting, vocals, visuals, and videos, Little can crank out finished tracks in hours.

The operation exposed a weakness in iTunes’ chart system, which gives heavy weight to downloads rather than streaming numbers. That quirk allowed a handful of purchases to generate outsized chart results. Little previously used the same approach to land an AI-generated artist at the top of Christian gospel charts late last year. Music industry insiders noted the songs have not gotten radio play, and some say that remains the real test of whether this kind of manipulation matters.
