After the man began squatting in the house she owns, TikTok user @regblackgrl got threatening letters from a “sovereign citizens” group, an extremist group known to falsely claim ownership of property due to supposed “ancestral ties.” According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, sovereign citizens believe “they get to decide which laws to obey and which to ignore, and they don’t think they should have to pay taxes.”
