Neil Peart’s Family Recalls Final Days

Late Rush drummer Neil Peart is being remembered by his family and surviving Rush bandmates. In a new interview for “Rolling Stone” magazine, his loved ones discuss the late rocker’s final days.

Peart was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer back in August 2016, given just about a year to live. Friends say Peart handled his private health battle with “strength and stoicism,” determined to make the most of his days by riding his motorcycle, revisiting his glory days with Rush, and spending time with his daughter Olivia.

Peart ended up living more than three years after the diagnosis, throwing himself a final birthday party in 2019. He never played drums again after Rush’s final tour, but he did leave a gift for his daughter Olivia – a drum set, encouraging her to follow in his footsteps.
