Just outside L.A. in Monrovia, California, half of a home that was severely damaged by a fallen tree, is now on the market for $499,999. Although the house suffered extensive damage—there is no ceiling, missing walls, and exposed wires—it still boasts working plumbing. The property is one bedroom, one bathroom; about 645 square feet.
Kevin Wheeler, the listing agent, humorously described the home as an “open-concept floor plan” and noted significant buyer interest, driven by the combination of high demand and low inventory in Southern California’s expensive real estate market. Also, good news, if a house is over 50 years old in Monrovia and you want to tear it down, you need a special review. However, because this house was damaged by a natural disaster, it doesn’t need that review. This means anyone who buys this house can fix it up without having to go through a lot of usual paperwork.
For sale: Newly listed for sale in Southern California’s notoriously pricey realty market: half a house for half a million dollars. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom bungalow in suburban Monrovia, northeast of Los Angeles, was crushed by a tree in May. https://t.co/zelyCAfgVe
