A Florida fisherman experienced a horrifying encounter at a golf course pond recently when a massive alligator attacked him, tearing off his hand as bystanders watched in shock. Witness Ron Priest recounted the harrowing moment, saying, “While the guy was on the ground … the gator got the guy in the hand, and the two rolled.”
The nine-foot reptile then retreated into the water, leaving the angler badly injured. Witnesses immediately called 911, with one reporting, “There is a gator attacking a man in my backyard!” Emergency responders swiftly airlifted the injured fisherman to a hospital in Orlando, while wildlife officials trapped and removed the aggressive alligator from the pond.
