A UK woman has completed an epic adventure at the Barkley Marathons in Tennessee, facing a grueling foot race through the rugged terrain of Frozen Head State Park. Jasmin Paris was one of the runners who scoured the woods for hidden pieces of paper and engaged in grotesque challenges like eating undercooked meat, all to see who’d be the last one standing. Then, to make things more horrific, the race starts anywhere from midnight to noon, depending on the director’s whim.
Paris, a British ultrarunner, made history as the first woman to conquer this sadistic course, finishing with less than 100 seconds to spare before the 60-hour cut-off. As for how the “lucky” applicants are chosen, only 40 people out of thousands are given the green light by way of a “condolence” letter that ends with the letter saying, “Good luck, morons.”
