When we read nutrition labels on food, we can see how many calories are in it, but that number may not really mean much until you think about how much you have to workout to burn off those calories. According to one study from 2013, two-thirds of people underestimate the calorie content of their meals, sometimes by a significant amount.
Researchers with 24/7 Wall Street used data from the Nutritionix nutrition database to determine how much you have to exercise to burn off the calories in some of our favorite foods. Their numbers are based on someone weighing 140 pounds, but it could take more or less time because people don’t all burn calories at the same rate.
