Cockroaches – Even A Hurricane Can’t Kill Em

You know the old urban legend that says “Cockroaches will be the lone survivors of a nuclear war?” One family knows all too well. In Sunset Beach, Florida, a family cleaning their flooded home from Hurricane Helene discovered at least five cockroaches hiding inside a coffee pot. A photo shared with WFLA-TV showed the “palmetto bugs” huddled together to escape the rising waters.

“These roaches found the perfect shelter in our coffee pot,” the family said. Cockroaches are common in Florida’s humid climate, with 37.6-percent of homeowners in Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg reporting infestations annually, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
