Stand-up comedian Stephanie D’agostini, was stunned when she realized that her own apartment was featured in a TV show she was watching. D’agostini turned on the reality show “Couples Therapy” to unwind, only to see what looked exactly like her own space on screen. “I lost it,” D’agostini told “Newsweek.” “I was like, ‘We are living in a simulation. How is this happening?’” She quickly recorded a TikTok video comparing her apartment’s unique details, including a New York Cosmos sticker on the electric box, to the set on her screen, and the video quickly went viral, garnering over 3 million views.
D’agostini’s video sparked hundreds of amazed reactions on TikTok, with viewers calling it a “glitch in the Matrix” and comparing it to “The Truman Show” and the “Black Mirror” episode “Joan Is Awful,” where a woman realizes her life is being dramatized in real-time. The unexpected discovery even caught the attention of “Couples Therapy” producers, who later confirmed that they likely shot scenes in her exact unit, based on the identical sticker. Reflecting on the bizarre coincidence, D’agostini told “Newsweek,” “It’s crazy how viral the video went … people were joking that they filmed while I wasn’t home, but I only moved in a month ago, so it must’ve been the previous tenants.”
