A woman from Liverpool, England got a tattoo with her late father’s ashes mixed into the ink, but years later her body started rejecting them. Tammie Lunt wanted to honor her dad, who died in 2018, by getting the words “Always with me” tattooed on her arm using ink blended with his ashes. Her tattoo artist was hesitant at first, but did some research and agreed to do it. A few years later, Lunt noticed a tiny hard bit of skin on her hand that was getting irritated. When she went to the doctor, they couldn’t figure out what it was but said it wasn’t life threatening.
Lunt eventually realized the tattoo artist had warned her that the ashes could be rejected by her body. When she looked closely at the bit of skin, it looked like a small heart to her, which she took as a sign from her dad telling her to let him go and stop grieving so hard. The bump is still there and isn’t painful. She says she doesn’t regret getting the tattoo and would do it again.
