The Best & Worst Songs To Have Sex To

Music can help get us in the mood, but not just any tunes will do. It turns out, most of us are choosing the wrong songs for enhancing intimacy, but new research reveals the right ones to play instead.

Science has determined that the ideal song speed to complement sex is 119 beats per minute. But when the pros at Dating Scout analyzed current playlists with keywords like “romance,” “sexy” and “sensual,” to see which ones meet that desired 119 bpm tempo, a lot of songs are nowhere near it.

  • While a lot of playlists include Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex,” that tune is only 60 beats per minute.
  • It’s featured on around 120 of the playlists studied, but it was actually ranked the worst song to be playing during sex.
  • Other songs you don’t want on your sexy time playlist include “I Wanna Be Yours” by Arctic Monkeys and “Get You (ft. Kali Uchis)” by Daniel Caesar and Rihanna’s “Sex With Me” and “Needed Me.”
  • The Weeknd’s “High for This” has some sexually charged lyrics and the study found it on 146 playlists, but has a tempo of 75 beats per minute, so it’s not ideal for the bedroom.

So, what is the best song to have sex to? Researchers looked at the best songs in the Billboard Hot 100 and found one by Post Malone tops the list. “Pour Me A Drink(ft. Blake Shelton)” has a tempo of 119 beats per minute, making it the top pick. Dominic Fike’s track “misses” and “Brand New Dance” by Eminem are runner-ups.
