Man Uses His Own Ribs To Replace His Nose After It’s Ripped Off By Dog

After ten surgeries, Ben Horne has a new nose. The 34-year-old aerospace engineer has suffered with epilepsy since he was 15, but when doctors changed his medication he started having night seizures. One of those seizures spooked his dog Henry, who ripped off his nose and parts of his mouth and chin.

The ten surgeries reconstructed his face, using bones from his ribs and skin from his forearm and forehead. He still needs plastic tubes to help him breathe, so the next step for his doctors is figuring out how to remove them without his new nose closing up.
