A horse trainer from Cardston, Alberta, rode a buffalo to the supermarket on December 29. The video shows Joel Lybbert strapping a saddle to and mounting Indy the bison and then riding the wild beast to the grocery store.
Lybbert says he is a professional horse trainer and has a specialty act where he performs at rodeos and fairs on his Texas Longhorn and buffalo. “It has always been a dream of mine to train a buffalo to ride. I have always esteemed it as the pinnacle of being a cowboy,” said Lybbert. “There is never a dull moment when riding a buffalo.”
Lybbert added that there was no shortage of spectators and onlookers on the ride to the grocery store, with people slowing down to take pictures and videos.
