If you ever wanted to be a Bond villain, here’s your chance to take an enormous step in that direction. United Spaceports Corp., based in Las Vegas, is offering a $5.5-million package for private individuals to own a military-grade satellite called the Black Star 1000. This price includes the satellite, a launch into low-Earth orbit via SpaceX, and a ground control station. The satellite comes equipped with an AI-powered Nvidia data center, a cryptocurrency wallet, Earth observation and space-viewing cameras, secure communications, and solar panels.
Additional features, such as geostationary orbit placement or in-flight connectivity for private jets, are available at extra cost. CEO Rob Lauer emphasizes that this offering provides unprecedented digital sovereignty and security for private citizens. United Spaceports is currently accepting deposits, with satellite launches expected within two years.
