Kentucky Man Trying To Get A World Record For His Annual Halloween Display

A Kentucky man who calls himself Halloween Herm is trying to set a Guinness World Record with his massive Halloween display that has more than 300 props. He’s been decorating his home on Village Green Drive in Cold Spring for decades, calling the setup “Deadsprings Cemetery.” The tradition started as a way to honor his mother, who died of cancer in 1999; every year, he starts setting up on August 18th, the day she passed away.

This year’s display includes a Taylor Swift skeleton and a tribute to the Cincinnati Reds’ playoff run. He discovered there are no current Guinness World Records for the number of props in a Halloween display, so he’s applying to create that record. The display also works as a fundraiser for the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center. Halloween Herm says his mother’s Halloween displays were always the talk of the town when he was young, which is why he decided to follow in her spooky footsteps.
