A JetBlue passenger, Kiara Quinonez, is suing the airline after allegedly fracturing a tooth on a “frozen solid” ice cream sandwich served on her August 20 flight from New York to France. According to her lawsuit, Quinonez endured “pain, suffering, and mental anguish” from the strawberry shortcake dessert, made by Nightingale Ice Cream, which she claims led to a root fracture and required “immediate medical treatment” upon landing.
The lawsuit further states that Quinonez had to have her damaged tooth extracted and replaced with an implant, incurring ongoing medical expenses. Her attorney, Christopher Fraser, argues JetBlue is at fault for “serving food at a temperature below what is reasonable or safe,” adding that the airline failed to warn her of the “dangerously cold temperature” of the dessert.
