Columbus, Ohio cops were called after several businesses, including a pet store, had been burglarized overnight. When they got to the scene there were two dogs, multiple birds, a hamster, and at least two rabbits running around. Police Sergeant Joe Albert said they were still searching for more, including a ferret.
When officers found suspect Matthew Pancake, who was nearby asleep on a bench, they discovered there were four gerbils stuffed into his leopard-print pajama pants. Thankfully, the critters weren’t flattened. “One day, you’re running after a suspect.” Albert laughed. “The next day, you’re running after ferrets and bunnies.”
Pancake was charged with breaking and entering and vandalism.
