Four Children Injured When High Winds Pick Up Bouncy Castle In Australia

“Mom! Watch how high I can jump!” has never been more terrifying. Four children were hurt on Saturday when a bouncy castle was picked up by strong winds and blown over a fence in southwestern Sydney, Australia. Five kids between the ages of nine and 13 were inside when a strong gust of wind pulled the bouncy castle off the ground and lifted it about 23 feet into the air. Four boys were taken to the hospital with injuries to their arms, backs, and shoulders, but all are in stable condition, and the injuries are not life-threatening.

A spokesperson from the bouncy castle company said the owners told him there was a huge wind caused by what they called a freak tornado, which might not be a bad guess since the wind also ripped away a generator that was with the bouncy castle. Wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour were recorded nearby in Canterbury, and 55 miles per hour at Sydney Airport. SafeWork New South Wales, which handles workplace health and safety, is now looking into what happened.
