James Nix hit Jason Defelice’s pet rooster with a stick and killed it. Now, Nix has been accused of murdering the rooster and has gone to jail for animal cruelty. He says the chicken attacked people and was trying to attack him when he hit it with the stick, but Defelice says that’s news to him.
Nix says he accidentally hit “Big Roo” in the head while trying to bat it away. The sheriff’s office didn’t take any action when they were called, so Defelice called animal control. “Next thing you know, he calls the chicken police on me,” said Nix, adding “Chickens are dying every day, people at Churches, Popeye’s, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Really.”
