A Boca Raton father caught a Lyft driver using AI-generated photos to fraudulently charge his teenage daughters $75 for damage that never happened. Bert Gor said his daughters and a friend took a Lyft home from the beach, and he soon received a bank fraud alert for an unrecognized charge. When Lyft initially sided with the driver, Gor asked for the evidence, and his daughter immediately spotted an AI-generated watermark on the damage photos.
After Gor pointed this out to Lyft, the company apologized, issued a full refund, and permanently removed the driver from the platform. Gor said he doesn’t want retaliation but hopes the story warns other riders about AI-assisted scams. He now instructs his daughters to photograph the car every time they exit a rideshare.
