Domino’s Testing Pizza Delivery Robot In Texas

We’re not quite caught up with the Jetsons, but we’re making progress. Domino’s has announced the testing of a pizza-delivering robot in Houston; Nuro’s R2 robot will deliver pizzas to the Woodland Heights neighborhood.

How is this going to work? When the robot car leaves with an order, the customers will receive text messages with updates on the delivery status and a PIN to put into the robot’s touchscreen to receive their order when it arrives.

Aside from having a robot deliver your pizza being a cool thing, why are they giving this a try? Dennis Maloney, Domino’s senior vice president and chief innovation officer, said the test will help the company find out how well the service is received, as well as showing them “how it affects store operations.”
