Customer Sues After Finding Cow Tooth In Taco

Not every part of a cow is a good thing to find in your food. For example, an Austin woman is suing Torchy’s Tacos after finding a cow tooth in her meal. She says she discovered it June 9th while eating a “Democrat” taco from the chain’s South Congress Avenue location. The taco contains beef barbacoa made from cheek meat. Her lawsuit says the discovery caused distress and discomfort, and she sought medical care that night, and she’s seeking up to $250,000.

Torchy’s confirmed the object was a cow tooth after reviewing the complaint. The company said teeth can occasionally remain during meat processing, though such cases are rare, and it’s working with its supplier to prevent another incident. The woman’s lawyer says the tooth should have been caught before the food reached her and could have posed a choking risk. The case has not been resolved.
