Couple With Will-Writing Business Had A Client Try To Pay Them With A Live Crab

A couple who have written around 30,000 wills have shared some of the most unusual requests they’ve seen. One woman asked for her ashes to be made into a diamond for her daughter to wear as a ring. Another person left a large sum of money to their dog, but only if a specific friend cared for it and sent monthly photos to prove the dog was well. Someone else wanted their rare coin collection buried with them, which led to a family dispute over the value.

A man left his vintage car to his nephew, but only if he drove it across the country first. Another person requested their ashes be scattered at their favorite bar, with a round of drinks for everyone there paid for by their estate. One man had trouble paying for the bill and decided to pay part of it with a live crab. Robert Phipps said, “It had elastic bands around its claws.” He said he felt so bad for it he drove it to the beach and released it into the sea.
