While moving from Georgia to Vermont in July, Herwig Goldemund and his wife Susan stopped for a nap at a rest stop in Connecticut and opened their window for some air. When they woke up, their cat Minka was gone. The couple searched for Minka for hours but eventually gave up and continued on to Vermont.
Here comes the great part. Just before Christmas, someone reported a stray cat in the median of the interstate near the rest stop, and animal control went out and found Minka…over five months after she vanished. Susan drove four hours from their new home in Vermont, and the family is now reunited.
