British Dog Owners Could Go To Jail For Feeding Their Dogs A Veggie Diet

Great Britain doesn’t look kindly on dog owners that want to feed their pet a vegetarian diet. According to the Animal Welfare Act 2006, dog owners must feed their pets a “suitable diet,” which for dogs doesn’t include a vegetarian diet.

The law is no joke. The possible penalties for violating the law include a $27k fine, jail time, and being banned from ever owning a pet again. The president of the British Veterinary Association says “If your personal belief system means you don’t want to eat any animal protein, that’s fine, but that diet isn’t designed to meet the welfare standards of your pet.”
