Is Air Frying Food Healthy, Or Are We Just Fooling Ourselves?

Americans love their fried food, but with health on our minds, use of air fryers has exploded. After all, promises of all the fried flavor, but not the fat…we’re in! But is air frying really healthy or are we fooling ourselves?

Registered dietitian nutritionist Bansari Acharya says that air frying “preserves the nutrients in the food items, as it doesn’t expose it to hot oils. It also reduces the amount of trans and saturated fats in foods, reducing the risk of heart disease.” In other words? YES! It IS better!

Still, while certain foods can turn out to be more nutritious if they are air fried (including sweet potatoes, corn, beans, yams and legumes) others become less nutritious (such as meats and cheeses). Most nutritionists recommend using as many fruits and vegetables as you can and other popular items that are good to air fry include tofu, chicken tenders and potatoes, so use your imagination knowing that you are doing a good thing for your health.
