A robot cage match in China ended in spectacular fashion when one fighter literally lost its head. The first-ever Ultimate Robot Knock-out Legend competition in Shenzhen featured 32 teams from around the world, all using the same T800 humanoid robot from Chinese company EngineAI. In a video from one bout, a robot delivered a flying kick to its opponent’s face that knocked the head clean off. Amazingly, the damaged machine kept fighting, throwing a few punches with its head dangling between its shoulders.
After being knocked down again, it flailed around trying to stand, snapping the cable holding the head on, and collapsed. The winner then danced over its motionless body. EngineAI’s CEO said the goal is to build a global robot fighting brand while pushing research forward. Martial arts movie legend Donnie Yen attended and said he had only ever seen robot fighting in science fiction films.
