Woman In India Fakes Turning Into A Snake To Avoid Arranged Marriage

If no one’s working on the movie based on this story, they should get busy. A young woman in India came up with a wild plan to get out of an arranged marriage. Reena, from Uttar Pradesh, disappeared from her home, leaving behind her clothes, jewelry, and a five-foot-long snake skin arranged on her bed. Neighbors quickly believed she had turned into a “naagin,” a mythical snake-woman from local folklore.

Police looked into it and figured out it was all staged. Reena had been secretly talking to a man she loved in her village and used the snake skin trick to slither away and elope with him. She later popped up in a video with her new husband, saying she was happy and asking to be left in peace.
