People usually keep their eyes on their valuables, not the other way around, but an Alabama jewelry store owner named Slater Jones has what might be the world’s most expensive fake eye. After losing his right eye to a serious illness, Jones decided to make his prosthetic special by having a 2-carat diamond embedded in the center. The artificial eye was created by prosthetic expert John Lim, who said that out of 10-thousand eyes he’s created, it’s the most valuable prosthetic eye he’s ever made.
Jones said losing his eye brought new light into his life, and the diamond makes it more than just a medical device. The eye sparkles when it catches the light, making it a conversation starter…to put it mildly. The unique prosthetic has gotten lots of attention on social media, though some people worry about Jones’ safety walking around with a real diamond in his eye.
