Pro tip: don’t give your pastor your land just because they ask. An evangelical pastor in Honduras caused major controversy after demanding a parishioner give his land to the church. In a viral video, Pastor Jorge Pompa told the man in front of the whole congregation that God spoke to him and commanded the parishioner to hand over his property. Pompa claimed God would reward the man with $500,000 if he gave up the land, which was worth $130,000.
The pastor kept pressuring the confused man, saying he couldn’t sell something to God when God gave him everything. The pastor laid it on thick, saying God said, “Tell him that I gave him life, I gave him his children, and I can give him more than he has now if he gives me that land.” Most people on social media accused Pompa of taking advantage of the parishioner, with some saying he should face legal charges.
