Chaos Erupts After McDonald’s In Japan Starts Putting Pokemon Cards In Happy Meals

McDonald’s Japan abruptly ended a promotion that included Pokémon trading cards in their Happy Sets after crowds of collectors overwhelmed stores. The limited-time deal included a special Pikachu card and another random card in each meal. But many people bought the meals only for the cards, tossing the food aside and creating piles of trash at restaurant entrances.

The unrest caused long lines, store congestion, and upset both staff and families. McDonald’s apologized and said they hadn’t prepared well enough. To prevent future problems, they plan to limit how many meals each person can buy and stop online orders. Executives emphasized their commitment to keeping Happy Meals fun and family-friendly, not wasteful and chaotic.
