This is either a statement on this year’s crops or a statement on IQs. Shoppers at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, and other UK supermarkets are finding giant strawberries this summer. These berries are about 20% bigger than usual, weighing around 50 grams each, due to perfect weather conditions. The sunny April, the brightest since 1910, along with cool nights, helped the strawberries grow large and sweet.
The bigger berries are already on store shelves, just in time for Wimbledon in July, when people love eating strawberries with cream, but this year, stores are warning shoppers not to try to eat them in one bite. It’s a good problem for people to have, at least.
