Philippine Town Has Put A Bounty On Mosquitos

Mosquitoes are an ever-present problem in the Philippines, but with cases of dengue fever rising officials in Barangay Addition Hills have come up with a new plan to thin the mosquito problem down. The village chief has put a bounty on mosquitoes and mosquito larvae. Yes, on each mosquito. The goal is to get the citizens involved in reducing the mosquito population.

So far, 21 residents have participated in the bounty program, bringing in total of 700 mosquitoes and larvae. No one’s getting rich as a bounty hunter; the bounty is one peso for every five mosquitoes. With a peso equaling less than two cents, that means a grand total of $4.32 has been paid out so far.
