Woody’s Pizza has two locations in the UK town of Bacup, and they’re looking to open a third because business is good. Unfortunately for them, the town council has rejected their application to expand because they think business is too good with the young people in the area. Members of the council didn’t like the location picked, would “add nothing” to the food and drink offerings in the town, and wouldn’t be good for kids.
Claire Bradley, the economic development officer for the council, opposed the idea and said that one in five 11-year-olds in the area are already classified as obese. The planning commission in the town has also turned down two other takeaway restaurant expansion proposals because the council thinks the kids are overweight.
