Thousands Turn Up For “Hoax” Halloween Parade That Didn’t Exist

Thousands of people flocked to Dublin’s O’Connell Street on Halloween night for a highly anticipated Halloween parade, only to find out it didn’t exist. A viral TikTok video captured the confusion as costumed party goers wandered around. “It was funny. The police were trying to clear the street,” explained Peter Farrelly, who recorded the unexpected gathering.

The parade rumor reportedly began with a post on myspirithalloween.com, a website that collects Halloween events worldwide. The listing for the “Macnas Halloween Parade” was widely shared online, building excitement until police stepped in to clarify that no parade had been scheduled. Authorities issued a statement urging people to leave, confirming the entire event was an unintentional hoax caused by a misinformed content writer, who mistakenly assumed the parade would happen based on outdated information.
