Wade Merschat now has a fish story he’ll tell for the rest of his life. The 12-year-old was fishing at his favorite, secret fishing spot with his father when he snagged a largescale sucker fish for the ages, weighing in at 6.72 pounds, which has just been certified as a new Montana state record.
Merschat’s dad says he became hooked on fishing at a young age, and he’s now obsessed with the sport. “Sometimes it drives me insane because he likes to go so much.” Wade’s just getting started; he says he has a lot of fishing goals and records he wants to set.
