A five-foot python has been discovered under a sink in an Upper West Side apartment in New York City, prompting police to investigate how it got there and who owns it. The NYPD responded to calls at 8am Wednesday from residents who saw the snake climbing the building and entering a basement apartment.
Officers removed the brown and beige python and took it to the ASPCA. Manhattan Animal Care and Control named the scaly creature Severus, after the head of the Slytherin House from “Harry Potter” and put it in foster care as the investigation continues. In case you’re wondering, it’s illegal to own a python in New York without a Dangerous Animal License.
